Nobody Is Thinking About You. That’s a Good Thing!

SMC

How often do you find yourself worrying about what other people think of you? Unless you’re a zen monk living deep in the forest (in which case, wow, we’re delighted that you’re reading this blog!), your answer is probably “more than you’d like.”

That makes you human. But it can also block you from doing things you want to do — whether leveling up your business or asking someone out on a date.

So here’s one thing to remember when you notice that you’re holding yourself back because you’re scared of being judged: nobody else is thinking about you!

Seriously. We’re all too busy thinking about ourselves.

Those big, embarrassing moments like the time your crush laughed at you in middle school? Or freezing up on stage presenting at a conference? Nobody else even remembers.

None of us has so much brain power that we can devote any significant piece of it to holding on to each other’s silly missteps. Our screw ups aren’t that interesting.

So stop worrying about what other people think of you. Do your thing and give yourself permission to fail.

The only one keeping score is you.
