Everybody Fails

If you’re a dentist or work in the industry, you could probably do with a reminder on this one.

Everybody fails.

Nobody bats 1,000.

And that’s okay. It doesn’t make you a bad dentist or a bad person.

It just makes you normal. A human being.

Now, dental is a tough field. Whatever your exact role, you’re doing a job that has a serious impact on people’s lives — and comes with a lot of expectations.

Every day, you’re staring people’s pain and dreams in the face. That’s no easy thing.

You’re going to do your best. And you’re also going to screw up.

That’s a guarantee.

Where you do have a choice, though, is how you respond.

You can beat yourself up. Or you can forgive yourself, accept your limitations, take responsibility, and move on.

Good thing is, whichever way you go, you’ll get plenty of chances to try again.

Nobody bats 1.000. And that’s okay!
